Viewers watching BBC's MasterChef this evening (Thursday, April 20) were left confused after one contestant 'blamed his wife' for a mistake he made with one of his dishes.
Contestant Adam served a version of a chicken waffle dish for the judges, including guest star Jay Rayner. He decided to chop up the dish, giving it an authentic look. but was slammed by the judges as they described it as a "plate of promise."
After receiving the feedback, Adam said that it was his wife who told him to chop the food up. Adam was quick to point out what a "stupid" idea it was but some fans were left angry as to why he brought his wife into the scenario.

Describing Adam's dish, TV presenter Gregg Wallace said: "Adam made us a plate of what I call promise, and he chopped it all up.
John Torode added: "You can't take what's a big fun dish and try and make it look like smart restaurant. You mess it up, you rip its soul out."
Talking about his feedback, Adam said: "The might completely get rid of me because of how I'd served it. Chopping up food for a food critic was just stupid." He then dropped his wife into the mix.
One person tweeted: 'I don't like Adam. Why did he have to throw his wife under the bus for the cut waffle mistake? Own it. #MasterChef.' A second viewer said :'No judges, you've got it wrong! He didn't make a mistake, his wife did! #MasterChef.'
@hardcorecol added: 'Did one of the blokes on #masterchef blame his wife for the idea of cutting up the food....and then say it was a stupid idea?!' Someone else penned: 'If you didn’t try and blame your wife for the last round you would’ve done better this time #masterchef.'
Another MasterChef fan added: "Did one of the blokes on #MasterChef blame his wife for the idea of cutting up the food....and then say it was a stupid idea?!"
