The BBC announced major changes to its services - scrapping BBC Four and CBBC as linear TV channels over the next few years. It comes as the broadcaster looks to rebuild for the "digital age". There are not expected to be any changes to local services in Nottinghamshire.
Director-general Tim Davie announced to staff on Thursday that 1,000 jobs will also be lost across the public-funded part of the corporation as part of the changes. BBC World News and BBC News Channel will also merge to create a single 24-hour TV news channel serving both UK and international audiences.
Regional TV news programmes in Oxford and Cambridge are also among the services being scrapped as part of the “blueprint to build a digital-first public service media organisation”.Mr Davie told staff: “This is our moment to build a digital-first BBC.
