BBC Homes Under the Hammer buyers clash over 'horror show' £325k renovation project

Buyers on Homes Under the Hammer clashed over a "horror show" renovation project.

Martel Maxwell was taking a look at a three bed maisonette in London before it went to auction on today's popular BBC programme. The guide price of the home was £325,000 and the property expert was taken aback by its dilapidated interior as she branded it a "horror show of a renovation job".

She said: "With all these cobwebs this looks like it could make a good film set because it looks like it's already been decorated for Halloween. Still I'm not sure I'd knock on this door as it is more Hammer House of Horror than Homes Under the Hammer."

The home was purchased at auction by Natalie for a price of £332,500. She was joined by her brother in law Alistair in the home, who claimed she should have avoided the project.

He said: "She facetimed me when she was viewing this property and I immediately said 'no, don't buy it.' She didn't listen to a word I said." Natalie shook her head as she shot back: "I actually have evidence of him saying yes when we were in the auction room on the day."

Alistair joked: "Lies. All lies." The two renovated the home alongside Natalie's husband, Steve. The project took five months and cost 38,000 which meant the overall project was £370,000.

Martel praised the renovation and real estate agents estimated it was worth up to £475,000 after the restoration. Natalie was disappointed with the valuation as she added: "We probably hoped to achieve a little bit more than that. I guess only time will tell."

However, Alistair performed a u-turn as he admitted he was satisfied with the project. He said: "I really pleased we took this one. I'm really happy with it."
