BBC Happy Valley viewers say the same thing right at end of latest episode and fear 'disappointment'

Happy Valley viewers were left with pretty much the same thought as they tuned into the latest episode. Fans have been hooked by the BBC One drama since it returned to screens earlier this month, seven years after series two last aired on screen.

And viewers were back and ready for more on Sunday night (January 29) as we enter the end stage of the third and final season. The new episode saw all eyes on Tommy Lee Royce following his dramatic escape from prison. His return to the show, despite being in prison, came after Sergeant Catherine Cawood discovered that her grandson Ryan was visiting his dad behind bars.

But the latest gripping episode saw confused teen Ryan discover the horrific truth about his killer father from Ann Gallagher, who was abducted and raped by the vile psychopath back in series one. Ryan was in hiding with the rest of the Cawood clan after Tommy went on the run after escaping from court while standing trial for the murder of Gary Gaggowski.

And when Ryan turned up at Ann and his brother Daniel's door, she let rip over a glass of wine and told him Tommy had raped his mum Becky, that he was raised from being a baby following her suicide by his granny Catherine despite never being wanted by the rest of the family.

When Catherine finally tracked Ryan down, after he did a bunk from his granddad Richard and his wife Ros's house, there was a heart-wrenching moment when Ryan told his granny he loved her. But then, as Daniel, Ann, Clare, Neil, Nevison, Richard and Ros were all hiding, and waiting for news of Tommy's capture, they were complete unaware that Tommy was making direct contact with Ryan via their games consoles after it had already been revealed he was planning a flit to Spain with his son in tow.

But after all that nail-biting action, Happy Valley fans couldn't help but respond to the announcement made at the start of the show after the latest episode come to an end.

Ahead of the opening credits, a BBC announcer said: "Lock the door, silence the phone, and nobody speak to me. I've been waiting all week. Now on BBC One, with strong language, and scenes which some viewers may find upsetting, the penultimate ever episode."

What am i going to do when the best drama on tv EVER ends next Sunday?" @MichaelCurates added: "Never have the words penultimate episode made me feel so sad about a show ending. Fans will be treated to an extended final-ever episode of the hit drama, on Sunday, February 5, will last 68 minutes, giving fans an extra 10 minutes of drama, as it is down in TV guides to run from 9-10.10pm. But some are wondering if it will be enough.

@ArletteLeC tweeted: "#HappyValley HOW IS EVERY LOOSE END GOING TO BE TIED UP IN AN HOUR AND 8 MINS?? Why does Poppy never take her coat off I need to know." @ColinGranger1 wrote: "So many loose ends and only an HOUR to tie them up? #HappyValley."

Please don’t put us licence payers through that." @Al_Shaw_Shirts added: "Last time I got a 'ooh there’s a lot to wrap up in the final episode' feeling was Line Of Duty.
