BBC Happy Valley viewers were devastated to learn that the season three finale will be the drama's last ever instalment. The multi-Bafta award-winning hit, starring Sarah Lancashire as Sergeant Catherine Cawood, James Norton as Tommy Lee Royce, Rhys Connah as Ryan Cawood and Siobhan Finneran as Clare Cartwright, returned in the new year after an almost seven-year hiatus for its final run.
Fans of the drama have been seriously hooked by the weekly episodes that air on Sunday nights at 9pm, with some scenes hitting harder than others. During episode two, Sarah was praised as "absolutely phenomenal" by viewers following dramatic scenes that saw Sarah's character confront her sister Clare in a cafe, for taking her grandson Ryan to visit his father Tommy in prison without her knowledge. And in the penultimate episode, viewers were once again blown away as Ryan gave them the most emotional 10 minutes of TV in ages. The teenage actor broke viewers' hearts when he stopped his grandmother in her tracks to say "I love you". You can read more about the scene here.

With just one episode left many viewers are hoping for an explosive ending and it looks like that could be on the cards as BBC bosses have confirmed the last ever instalment, which will air on Sunday, February 5, will be longer than usual. It means fans will get almost 10 minutes of extra action as the series concludes.
While the show has kept its cards close to its chest when it comes to the ending, in fact many different endings have been filmed, a synopsis for the finale reads: "Scores are settled for good on Catherine’s final shift, and Ryan faces a moral dilemma."
It means the sixth episode in the third and final series of Happy Valley will air on BBC One on Sunday, February 5. It will run for 68 minutes, giving fans almost 10 minutes of extra drama.
