Film crews will be back in Leeds next week to film for upcoming new BBC drama Better.
The new six-part series is set in the city, and will use the landscapes and surrounding countryside to portray the "epic battle of one woman's soul", according to the directors. Written by Sam Vincent and Jonathon Brackley the drama showcases a family tragedy about corrupt police detectives who have a painful moral awakening after 20 years.
Earlier this month crews were spotted filming in the Corn Exchange, as well at St Paul's Street and South Parade. St Paul's Street was closed throughout the night and "stars" were spotted on the street.

More than 10 people were spotted wrapped up warm and tents were put up. An actress with dark hair wearing black jeans, booted heels, a light blue blouse, and a blazer appeared to be the star of the show - shooting solo shots and appearing in most scenes. And now the show, which writers said has been in the making for 10 years, is using Beeston as the next spot for filming. Flats in the area will be used for a house fire scene.
Councillor Andrew Scopes announced earlier today (April 29) that filming will start next week. He confirmed that the film will cause some interruption to traffic.
He said: "Filming will be happening in the above streets next week with traffic management will be in place. The plot involves a house fire and will involve a smoke generator. As I am sure you are aware, the city features regularly in television productions and occasionally in the cinema. We now boast four independent film studios in Leeds as well as providing a base to BBC, ITV, C4 and many small independent production companies.
"One company, Sister, has recently started filming a new BBC drama series called ‘Better’. They are filming in Beeston next week on Cross Flatts Street and Wooler Avenue. One of the houses is the focus for part of the plot. The work does require some traffic management to allow the filming to take place safely."
Scopes confirmed traffic management will be in place including:
- Stop/Go traffic control
- Road Closures - diversion routes are signed for any through traffic. This does not mean that the residents have no access - all essential access is maintained, including bin collections, carers, health visits etc. The closure allows the filming team to effectively and safely manage the area.
- Parking restrictions - these are either to clear vehicles from an area for the action or to provide space for the technical vehicles. Both Highways and the production team fully appreciate that this is probably the biggest imposition on residents and we try to minimise the space needed and the location team will help as much as they can.
- There will be parking restrictions to allow the technical vehicles associated with the filming to park.
- The location does not directly impact on any polling stations for May 5.
