EastEnders fans think they have worked out the reasons beind one of the observations they made in the recent flash-forward scene which revealed there will be a death in Albert Square this Christmas. Fans of the BBC One soap were reeling last month when a lock-in at the Queen Vic for six iconic female characters led to a tease of what's to come at the end of 2023.
Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Kaur were enjoying some drinks in the boozer before the scene suddenly flash forwarded to Christmas 2023. Viewers were stunned to see Sharon wearing a wedding dress which had been splattered with blood, leaning over a dead body and confirming "he's dead".
Stacey, who has found herself in a similar situation in the Albert Square boozer before, stood with blood-stained hands alongside Denise who held a broken champagne bottle. It marked the start of a 10-month wait for viewers to find out who will end up dead - and how they came to the end of their life with the strong Walford women watching on.
But as the weeks go on, certain things are starting to make sense, with Keanu Taylor popping the question to Sharon Watts in scenes earlier this week. And the new owners of The Queen Vic have now been revealed, which has led to another part of the flash-forward scene finally making sense.
Following the disappearance of Mick Carter, Sharon and the Panesar family are vying to join forces with Linda (Kellie Bright) to run the pub. However, Linda is secretly teaming up with her "larger-than-life" mother, Elaine Peacock, who will be bringing her new partner George Knight and his two daughters Gina and Anna when she returns to Albert Square.
The role of Elaine has been recast with Absolutely Fabulous star Harriet Thorpe taken on the role while George will be played by james Bond actor Colin Salmon. Strictly Come Dancing 2022 finalist Molly Rainford is also joining the case as Anna while Gina will be played by actress Francesca Henry.
The Knight family will appear in Walford with their beloved Chihuahua Tyson in scenes set to air on-screen in early summer, the BBC said. Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said EastEnders is "thrilled" to welcome the "hugely talented" group of actors to the soap "who will be immediately thrown into the heart of the Square".
And after the news was revealed, EastEnders fans were commenting on social media that the inclusion of a Knight in shining armour during the flashforward scene finally made sense.
@RyanJL tweeted: "The KNIGHT in shining armour has been revealed #EastEnders." @awittywizard wrote: "So now the random knight makes sense! #EastEnders." @Anfunny said: "...and that explains the random KNIGHTS armor standing in the #EastEnders Queen Vic flash forward scene." @CrysTalksVlogs added: "The KNIGHTS in shining armour..very good #EastEnders."
