BBC EastEnders bosses tease 'epic' episode with cryptic trailer as fans react

Soap fans have gone wild after the BBC dropped a trailer on Monday, June 19, teasing the main storyline of two big EastEnders episodes which are set to air later this week. The clip, posted on the BBC show's Twitter at 8.30am on Monday morning, showed a red rose blooming with the words: "Every Rose Has A Thorn..." appearing as the song by musician Seal 'Kiss From A Rose' played.

This teaser trailer is referencing a massive plot twist for Albert Square's newest family, the Knights - played by Colin Salmon, Molly Rainford and Francesca Henry - who made their debut on the soap on June 1 as guests of Linda Carter in The Queen Vic pub.

Soon after their arrival, viewers started suspecting George Knight (Colin Salmon) had more of a dark past than he was letting on - in particular, the mystery surrounding his wife, Rose, who has been missing from the family for the last nine years. And in the episode set to appear on Wednesday, June 21, it seems all will be revealed on the whereabouts of Rose - as stated by the BBC's tweet. And fans cannot contain their excitement, with many having speculated the same thing for days - read more on that here.

It seems news on the street is Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins, is actually Rose Knight, and with the time finally coming for it to be confirmed - or denied - viewers are ecstatic that they will find out the truth this week.

One fan, @RyanTheSoapking, wrote on Twitter: "OMG this looks EPIC!!!!! I'm so excited for this huge week for the Knight family. Thursday night cannot come fast enough. Bring on the drama. #EastEnders"

@NiyaazZaman added: "All this hype must mean something big is gonna happen and with how good Eastenders has been lately I'm excited to see what it is."

@leemc87 also penned: "The rose is coming back to life" alongside @linc52, who said: "I absolutely can't wait for this." What do you think is going to happen? Let us know in the comments.

If the rumours are true and Rose Knight is in fact Cindy Beale, who appeared on EastEnders between 1988 and 1997, it would blow out of the water her original storyline of being killed off after dying in childbirth, which was never aired.

In May, The Sun reported that both Michelle and Adam Woodyatt, aka Ian Beale - read our interview with him here - would be returning to EastEnders. A source told the publication: “This has been done so secretively but it's going to be an absolute bombshell — an unbelievable twist. Ian and Cindy are one of the most memorable couples in soap history.

"But Cindy has been dead for 25 years — and nobody will see this coming. The biggest surprise is that Michelle has so often said there's no chance she'd come back.”

EastEnders episodes usually drop on BBC iPlayer at 6am the morning before airing, but on Wednesday and Thursday fans will have to wait until the usual time of 7.30pm to find out the truth about the Knight family.

Posting the scheduling news on its Instagram, the official EastEnders account wrote: "The truth about George Knight's family is set to be revealed this week! To find out what really happened all those years ago, Wednesday and Thursday's episodes of #EastEnders will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm so everyone can watch the truth unfold together..."
