The Outlaws has been renewed for a third season as revealed in the BBC's annual report for 2023/2024. Work is underway to produce more episodes of the show filmed in Bristol, which is one of the broadcaster's most popular comedies over the last few years.
Co-created and starring Hanham's Stephen Merchant, the comedy-drama series follows seven strangers from different walks of life who are forced together to complete a Community Payback sentence, set in Bristol. The cast also includes Gamba Cole, Rhianne Barreto, Eleanor Tomlinson and Hollywood star Christopher Walken.
The first two seasons, released in October 2021 and June 2022 respectively, were filmed back to back but Merchant had always expressed interest in releasing more episodes. Merchant told the Radio Times that he was "quite excited" about the idea of another season.

"We started talking about series 3 and we found there was so much meat still on the bone and still so much to do with the characters... that I'm actually quite excited by the idea of doing a series 3. Partly because of that writers room so you can keep yourself stimulated by different voices. And also, because there's so many characters, you can just keep going," he said.
The corporation also confirmed new episodes of Am I Being Unreasonable? was in the pipeline, a series starring Daisy May-Cooper that was also partially shot in Bristol.
Very few details have been issued on the new series of The Outlaws so far. There has been no confirmation on when filming will resume in Bristol or when it is set to air on our screens.
Stephen Merchant has been nominated for a Bafta in March for his role as Greg Dillard in the show, an unsuccessful and socially inept lawyer attempting to rebuild his love life following his divorce.
The BBC revealed that the first series of the show had been the broadcaster's "biggest comedy launch of 2021" and had been streamed 11 million times on BBC iPlayer.
