BBC Better: Who is Jason Manford’s wife the brains behind new BBC drama?

Comedian Jason Manford is known for hosting Unbeatable and starring as a judge on ITV's Starstruck, as well as many other TV projects but he is not the only famous member of his family. His wife Lucy Dyke is part of the team behind the new BBC One drama Better.

The new drama, which started on Monday, February 13 and you can read everything you need to know here, explores the complex and powerful bonds of loyalty and family set in a world where everyone has their own version of right and wrong. Jason's wife, Lucy, is the executive producer for SISTER which is the award-winning content studio that produced Better.

Lucy first joined SISTER as a freelance producer to work on the well-loved BBC One drama The Split in 2016 and in 2020 she became the in-house executive producer, where she worked on the second and third series of The Split. She has previously produced Black Mirror for Netflix, Tommy Cooper (Not Like That, Like This) for ITV and Ripper Street for Amazon.

Jason, who hails from Salford, posted about his wife's achievements on his social media. He said: "My wife made this excellent show! It's an absolute smasher and will fill the hole that Happy Valley has left...Crime thriller with a twist!"

Lucy and Jason have been married since 2017 after Jason split from his first wife Catherine in 2013. Jason and Lucy have two children together and Jason has four children from his previous marriage to Catherine and he likes to keep his children's identities out of the spotlight.

In 2022 Jason spent the night in a tent suspended off a cliff in north Wales as part of his one-off ITV show with former cricketer Freddie Flintoff, Freddie & Jason: Two Men in a Tent. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
