Bayern Munich vs PSG LIVE: Result, latest updates and reaction from Champions League semi-final

Celebrations: PSG have reached a second successive Champions League final - (Getty)

Bayern Munich vs PSG LIVE!

Arsenal await Paris Saint-Germain in this season’s Champions League final in Budapest on May 30. Expectations for another pulsating showdown with Bayern Munich following last week’s nine-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes, a modern classic that saw so much scintillating attacking football and jaw-dropping shifts in momentum as holders PSG eventually triumphed 5-4, were not quite realised in Wednesday’s much calmer second leg in Bavaria.

It was still an intriguing semi-final clash, however, with PSG ahead inside just three minutes after great work from Fabian Ruiz and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to set up Ousmane Dembele, who fired into the roof of the net to settle any early nerves. There was controversy thereafter in the first half as Bayern felt that Nuno Mendes should have been shown a second yellow card for handball and that they should have then been awarded a penalty after Vitinha’s clearance inside the PSG box cannoned into the outstretched arm of team-mate Joao Neves.

Manuel Neuer made a string of excellent saves to keep Bayern’s hopes of reaching the final alive, but Harry Kane’s powerful strike deep in second-half stoppage time proved too late to inspire a comeback.

Bayern Munich vs PSG highlights

  • Holders PSG to face Arsenal in Champions League final
  • GOAL! Kane gives Bayern late stoppage-time hope
  • Bayern denied penalty for handball against Neves
  • Nuno Mendes avoids second yellow card in first half
  • GOAL! Dembele fires PSG ahead inside three minutes

PSG to face Arsenal in Champions League final

Wednesday 6 May 2026 22:12 , George Flood

So despite that late scare caused by Harry Kane, PSG advance to reach a second successive Champions League final and their third since 2019/20.

The holders will face Arsenal at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30 in a repeat of last season's semi-final tie, which PSG won 3-1 on aggregate after an initial 1-0 win in north London and nervy 2-1 triumph in Paris.

PSG will be the favourites, clearly, but this is not the same Arsenal side...

90 mins: Into five minutes of added time at the Allianz Arena.

PSG are almost there as Marquinhos defends brilliantly once again and Jackson can’t test Safonov.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:50 , George Flood

84 mins: A slip by Neuer offers the chance for Nuno Mendes to fire home from a long way out, but it’s off target.

The fit-again Karl is on for Upamecano for Bayern, while PSG have replaced Nuno Mendes with Mayulu.

Marquinhos into the book.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:46 , George Flood

81 mins: Barcola’s foul on Davies gives Bayern the chance to deliver a free-kick into the PSG box from a dangerous area.

Again they don’t make the most of it.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:43 , George Flood

79 mins: Kvaratskhelia bursts into the Bayern box again and has a chance to put this game to bed, but Kim does just enough to put him off and force a bit of an air shot.

Another reprieve for the hosts.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:42 , George Flood

78 mins: Luis Diaz drifts through the middle and plays a little one-two with Musiala before going down wanting a free-kick on the edge of the PSG box, but he’s actually penalised for handball and booked for his protests.

Kompany now sends on Jackson for Musiala.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:40 , George Flood

76 mins: Doue creates a yard of space for himself and fires not too far wide of the near post on the turn.

That will be his last contribution of the night as he’s replaced by Hernandez.

Lucas Beraldo is also on for Fabian Ruiz, who has excelled tonight.

73 mins: Alert defending again from Pacho to stretch out a leg and turn behind Olise’s latest cross.

Their travelling fans are in fine voice.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:36 , George Flood

70 mins: The chances are mounting at both ends as Safonov makes a comfortable save from Olise.

Doue then pulls off a sublime piece of skill to get past both Luis Diaz and Kimmich in the corner.

Now Kvaratskhelia’s fine run tees up Doue again, but he goes for the near post instead of firing across the goalkeeper and picks out the side netting.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:31 , George Flood

67 mins: Now comes the double swap by Bayern.

Davies and Kim are on for Stanisic and Tah.

It almost pays off immediately as Davies gets free down the left and his cross is turned goalwards by Luis Diaz, who is denied by Safonov.

That’s given the home fans a lift.

66 mins: Bayern’s backline are stretched again but thankfully for them, no PSG player is up on this occasion to match the run of Nuno Mendes.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:28 , George Flood

64 mins: Neuer is single-handedly keeping Bayern alive in this semi-final tie as he now gets down well low to his right to keep out another Doue strike.

Goalscorer Dembele is heading off for PSG, with Barcola coming on.

A double change is imminent for Bayern, meanwhile.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:25 , George Flood

61 mins: A tame low effort from Stanisic is easily gathered by Safonov after a decent spell of passing and pressure from Bayern.

Nice bit of skill by Luis Diaz.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:22 , George Flood

57 mins: It’s just not happening for Kane so far tonight as he’s kept at bay by Pacho.

Now Zaire-Emery earns the praise of Marquinhos after some diligent defending closes the door on the frustrated hosts once more.

Goretzka and Chelsea loanee Jackson are among the substitutes now warming up for Bayern.

Changes feel imminent from Kompany with time running out.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:20 , George Flood

55 mins: It’s another important stop from Neuer as he shovels away a snapshot from Doue.

Now the fleet-footed Kvaratskhelia speeds away from Upamecano before seeing a low strike kept out by the feet of the Bayern goalkeeper.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:17 , George Flood

53 mins: Marquinhos is standing strong and leading by example for PSG, but the captain gives away a free-kick in a dangerous area after a robust aerial challenge on Kane.

The ball is floated into the PSG box but the eventual effort is well off target by Pavlovic.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:16 , George Flood

51 mins: Pacho is down again holding his face after being clattered by Laimer. A painful few minutes for the Ecuador defender.

Now Kane has a fierce drive well blocked from the edge of the PSG box.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:12 , George Flood

47 mins: A break in play early in this second half as PSG centre-back Pacho stays down in need of treatment after ducking his head into a challenge with Kane and getting a boot to the head for his troubles.

He’ll be okay to continue.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Back underway at the Allianz Arena, with no changes from either manager just yet.

PSG are 45 minutes away from a second successive Champions League final appearance.

Should Bayern Munich have had a penalty for handball in the first half?

Judge for yourselves...

Bayern fume over handball decisions

Wednesday 6 May 2026 21:02 , George Flood

Can Bayern feel hard done by in that first half in terms of the big decisions?

Vincent Kompany will feel that Nuno Mendes should have received a second yellow card for handball, while also believing his side should have had a penalty for handball also when Vitinha’s clearance cannoned into team-mate Joao Neves inside the PSG box.

Neither call went their way. It could be a different game...

Ousmane Dembele’s third-minute strike has PSG ahead on the night in Munich and two goals up on aggregate in this absorbing Champions League semi-final tie.

A lot of work for Bayern to do if they are to prevent the holders from booking their place in the showpiece against Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.

They’ve certainly had their chances.

47 mins: Kvaratskhelia picks up a cheap booking for kicking the ball away.

Tah was also booked for dissent a little earlier.

Now he plants a free header well wide from a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

That was a real chance.

43 mins: Musiala forces a low save from Safonov before then pulling a follow-up wide.

Good football from Bayern, who are firmly on top at the moment but still trailing as half-time approaches.

40 mins: A little bit of a lull in this fascinating first half before Safonov gets down to turn away a dangerous Bayern cross from the byline.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:40 , George Flood

35 mins: A heart-in-mouth moment for PSG as it looks for a second as if Olise could lob Safonov, who is miles off his line.

PSG are in again as the lively Kvaratskhelia is just about thwarted by Tah once more.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:37 , George Flood

33 mins: What a save from Neuer to divert Joao Neves’ header wide of the back post!

That may well have kept Bayern in this semi-final tie.

Objects are now sadly being thrown by the home fans over on the far side as PSG go to take a corner.

Dembele hands a lighter to the referee, who walks it over to the touchline.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:34 , George Flood

31 mins: Now Bayern appeal strongly for a penalty after Vitinha’s clearance inside the PSG box clatters into the hand of team-mate Joao Neves.

Not given and the home side are absolutely raging.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:33 , George Flood

29 mins: Bayern’s players, fans and coaches all scream unsuccessfully for a second yellow card for Nuno Mendes as he blocks a ball from Laimer with his arm.

Kompany is incensed on the touchline.

Luis Enrique needs to think carefully about how much longer he can keep his left-back out there.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:30 , George Flood

27 mins: Nuno Mendes, on that yellow card, needs far more help up against Olise here as he’s beaten easily again by the French star, whose subsequent strike whistles over the crossbar.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:29 , George Flood

24 mins: A painful collision between Nuno Mendes and Upamecano leaves the former in pain and in need of attention.

A few players have been in the wars early on in this game.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:28 , George Flood

Here is that early goal from Dembele for PSG.

What a pass from Fabian Ruiz to set away Kvaratskhelia.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:26 , George Flood

18 mins: This is better from Bayern as Luis Diaz twists and turns inside that PSG box, leaving defenders trailing in his wake as he then fires over the crossbar.

As with the first leg, you can’t take your eyes off this game for a single second.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:19 , George Flood

14 mins: It’s end-to-end again between these two sides as Tah gets across to block behind a close-range strike from Kvaratskhelia.

That came shortly after a mistake from Zaire-Emery at the other end opened the door for Bayern, with Nuno Mendes making a crucial last-ditch intervention to deny Olise inside the box.

Good work from Vitinha then thwarted Musiala.

A PSG corner is now thumped clear by Kane.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:17 , George Flood

12 mins: Olise is furious as he takes on the booked Nuno Mendes and then appears to earn a corner that is awarded as a goal kick for Safonov.

Bayern are dominating the ball just at the moment, but have yet to create a chance.

Mendes up against Olise on a yellow could be a real problem here for PSG.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:15 , George Flood

10 mins: Olise almost manages to play in Musiala before Kane tries his luck at making inroads inside that PSG box.

The visitors are defending stoically at the moment.

As ever, PSG look immensely threatening on the break, led by Kvaratskhelia.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:11 , George Flood

8 mins: An early booking for Nuno Mendes as he’s beaten by Olise and then brings him down out on the right flank.

Such a long time left for the usually assured Portuguese left-back to negotiate on a yellow card up against one of Europe’s most dangerous attackers.

A quick free-kick from Bayern ends up with a delayed delivery that flies harmlessly beyond the far post for a goal kick.

Waste.

Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg)

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:10 , George Flood

6 mins: Bayern are searching for an instant response but Olise is being held in check well at the moment.

The hosts look stunned.

GOAL! Bayern Munich 0-1 PSG (4-6 agg) | Ousmane Dembele 3'

Wednesday 6 May 2026 20:06 , George Flood

3 mins: You knew it wouldn’t take long!

Bayern are carved open inside just three minutes as a delicious first-time pass from Fabian Ruiz releases Kvaratskhelia, who charges into the box and pulls back for Dembele to fire past Neuer and into the roof of the net.

What a start for the holders, who are ahead by two goals on aggregate.

Kick-off

The iconic Champions League anthem has been played, the managers have exchanged pre-match handshakes and we’re underway amid a sensational atmosphere in Munich.

Here come the teams

Wednesday 6 May 2026 19:58 , George Flood

An absolutely incredible tifo is unveiled by Bayern fans ahead of the players walking down those steps and emerging from the tunnel at the Allianz Arena.

It reads ‘Schiesst uns ins finale’ - which I believe translates as ‘shoot us into the final’.

They couldn’t ask for a more potent front three than Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.

Fan reaction

Wednesday 6 May 2026 19:30 , George Flood

Bayern’s full-back situation seems to be causing a lot of consternation among their fanbase on social media ahead of kick-off in Munich.

There is surprise that Konrad Laimer has been preferred to Alphonso Davies, who has had bad luck with injuries in recent years and will hope to play a starring role for Canada at the World Cup this summer.

Many wanted to see Josip Stanisic drop out, or at least switched to the left with Laimer on the right.

Zaire-Emery covers for injured Hakimi as PSG draft in Fabian Ruiz

Wednesday 6 May 2026 19:16 , George Flood

Luis Enrique also makes just one change to the PSG team that started the first leg on home soil.

As expected, Warren Zaire-Emery moves to right-back to cover for the injured Achraf Hakimi.

That opens up a space in midfield for Fabian Ruiz to start alongside Vitinha and Joao Neves.

Matvey Safonov, Zaire-Emery, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele all return after being rested for the 2-2 home draw with Lorient in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

One Bayern change as Laimer replaces Davies

Wednesday 6 May 2026 19:11 , George Flood

So Vincent Kompany makes one change to the Bayern Munich side that started last week’s 5-4 defeat in Paris.

It comes at left-back, where Alphonso Davies drops to the bench as Konrad Laimer comes in.

Otherwise it’s as you would expect from Bayern, with Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Joshua Kimmich, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane all returning to the starting XI after being rested for Saturday’s last-gasp 3-3 draw against bottom club Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.

Lennart Karl and Raphael Guerreiro are both on the bench after injury.

Jonathan Tah: Bayern Munich will not abandon attacking principles

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:52 , George Flood

Centre-back Jonathan Tah was the Bayern Munich player put forward for pre-match media duties on Tuesday and insisted that the reigning Bundesliga champions will not compromise their attacking principles in search of a result.

“Generally speaking, our style of play has brought us to where we are now,” he said.

“It makes no sense for us to change anything about it. We want to play attractive and attacking football.

“It’s demanding, but that's our style of play and we won't change it.

“I'm really looking forward to this game. You're even more tense and focused.

“But the anticipation outweighs everything else, especially with the first leg behind us.

“It is going to be a lot of fun. It's important to me not to forget why I started playing football – it's about fun and passion.

“Their players move around and switch positions a lot, just like we do.

“The most important thing is that we are aggressive and get into the challenges.

“We have to win duels and second balls and do everything to avoid getting countered.”

Team news on the way

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:43 , George Flood

The calm before the inevitable storm in Munich ahead of tonight’s enormous Champions League semi-final second-leg decider.

Lineups are on the way from the Allianz Arena very shortly...

Warren Zaire-Emery: This PSG team is built to attack

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:34 , George Flood

A big night lies in store for Warren Zaire-Emery, who has a tough evening ahead as a likely makeshift right-back up against the likes of Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane.

But the 20-year-old is confident that attack-minded PSG have the game plan necessary to progress.

"We're ready and will try to reach the final," he said after being put up for media duties alongside Luis Enrique yesterday.

"I think we’ll have to do the same as in the first leg. We defended well, but still conceded four goals.

"We'll need to defend higher up in their half. We’ll have to double up or even triple up on them, and everyone will need to put in the effort together.

"We'll try to impose our game plan, press like we do in every match, and win back as many balls as possible. This team is built to attack, and that’s what we'll try to do.

"We're expecting the same kind of match… maybe even tougher."

Vincent Kompany expecting another goal fest in second leg

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:24 , George Flood

Many people were surprised to see a team coached by Vincent Kompany looking as notably fragile defensively as Bayern Munich did in Paris last week.

You might expect both sides to search for at least a little more solidity at the back in tonight’s crunch second leg, but the Manchester City legend is clearly expecting a similar pattern to play out.

"It depends on both teams, really,” he said. “If one team decides to relieve some pressure, then it can happen.

“If not, then what you have to keep in mind is what the team showed; you cannot let go of it, you need to play the same way.

"I have a hard time imagining that PSG will play a different way, and the same goes for us.

"We are playing at home, we want to do everything in our power, including winning in the details.

"Maybe if we can score four goals to win 4-0, I am saying that because we scored four in the first leg, PSG, who scored five, probably want to win 5-0.

"The most important part is winning the game; that is our priority, to win."

(Getty)

Luis Enrique: PSG will not look to defend one-goal advantage

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:19 , George Flood

I don’t think anyone ever really expected them to, but Luis Enrique made it clear during yesterday’s pre-match press conference in Munich that PSG will not go to the Allianz Arena tonight and try to sit back and defend their one-goal advantage in the tie.

"We always try to improve,” he said. “If we look at the results between Bayern Munich and PSG over the last four games, there was the last one, and then there were otherwise normal results in football.

"There will be situations in the game that could change that trend. The team that is losing will have the desire to change the tie and try to win.

"As a team, we have the same target as we do in every away game. I like to repeat myself all the time, but that is our mentality; we try to win every single game.

"We do not need to play for a particular result, because we want to try and win the game.

"It is a difficult target, it is a challenge, but we are pleased with our performance levels - particularly away from home."

Who do Arsenal want to face in Champions League final?

Wednesday 6 May 2026 18:08 , George Flood

So, who would Arsenal rather face in the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30 on only their second appearance in the biggest game in European club football and first for 20 years?

The Gunners of course were edged out by eventual winners PSG in last season’s semi-finals, losing 1-0 at home before an agonising 2-1 loss in Paris in the second leg.

They had never previously lost to the French giants, though had only played them on three other occasions since 1994.

Arsenal have had some very tough nights against Bayern over the years, conceding five goals in three meetings in a row between 2015-17, though did exorcise some of those demons with a statement 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium during the league phase back in November.

Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli were all on target for the dominant hosts, with Lennart Karl having initially equalised for Bayern on a very quiet night for Harry Kane.

"Come on, man... you can't ask me that. I'd have to give a media-trained answer,” Bukayo Saka said last night when asked who he would rather play in the final.

He then added: "You know deep down who we'd want to face in the final."

Bayern Munich vs PSG prediction

Wednesday 6 May 2026 17:55 , George Flood

This second leg has an awful lot to live up to after such a thrilling first, but Bayern Munich will have a marked advantage as they return to home comforts.

They will hopefully be a bit more settled at the Allianz Arena, and, subsequently, Vincent Kompany will be keen to see a more assured defensive performance from his side.

The Bavarians’ attack remains in fine fettle, and they must only win by a margin of two goals to book their place in the final.

We expect them to do exactly that.

Bayern Munich to win 3-1 on the night, 7-6 on aggregate.

PSG team news

Wednesday 6 May 2026 17:52 , George Flood

The headline team news for PSG concerns Achraf Hakimi, their star right-back who has been ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the first leg in Paris last week following a collision with Konrad Laimer.

Versatile France midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery is expected to deputise for Hakimi tonight on the right side of Luis Enrique’s defence.

Second-choice goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has also been ruled out for a period of weeks with a thigh injury sustained in training, so it should now be Renato Marin backing up No1 Matvey Safonov after he started Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Lorient in Ligue 1.

Bayern Munich team news

Wednesday 6 May 2026 17:45 , George Flood

Bayern Munich have been boosted by teenage sensation Lennart Karl and Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerreiro both returning to training ahead of tonight’s second leg following injury.

It means that head coach Vincent Kompany has the luxury of almost a fully-fit squad to choose from against PSG.

However, former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry remains sidelined with a thigh muscle tear that will see him miss the rest of the season and this summer’s World Cup with Germany.

Hello and welcome to Standard Sport’s live coverage of Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League semi-final second-leg blockbuster.

If last week’s nine-goal classic in France is anything to go by, we should be in for another thrilling clash tonight as two of Europe’s biggest clubs compete for the right to face Arsenal in the Budapest showpiece on May 30.

The Gunners booked their place at the Puskas Arena last night as Bukayo Saka’s late first-half goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid and 2-1 triumph on aggregate.

Will it be the holders - who hold a narrow 5-4 advantage in this tie - or Harry Kane and Co who join them?

We can’t wait to find out. Kick-off at the Allianz Arena is at 8pm BST - stay tuned for breaking team news and live updates across the evening.

This should be anything but dull...
