Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.
Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.
Chelsea begins to face the consequences of not dealing with their contract crisis sooner amid interest from Barcelona. However, the Blues have licked their wounds, pouncing on a contract dilemma that could lure the Catalan side's prised asset to west London.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has been handed the chance to sign one of Bundesliga's leading strikers, which could solve the Romelu Lukaku saga at Stamford Bridge.
Christensen 'pushes' for Blues exit
According to the Daily Star, Andreas Christensen has decided his Chelsea future and is pushing for a summer move to Barcelona.
The report claims Barcelona are confident that the Dane has set his sights on a move to the Camp Nou, despite the interest from three unnamed Premier League sides.
Daily Star adds that Christensen's representatives are in advanced talks with Barcelona, who are confident they have won the race to secure his signature.
Our view: If any player wants to leave the club, let them - Chelsea, nor any club, should feel obliged to keep somebody on their payroll who doesn't want to play for the badge.
It's disappointing that after finally finding some form and showing a glimpse of his true potential, after what becomes a ten-year tenure at Stamford Bridge this summer, Christensen leaves at the first opportunity.
Important to remember that the Blues stuck by the Dane defender through his rough patches, but now that he's finally shifting through the gears, he reportedly wants out - strange.
Tuchel locks horns with Klopp over Barca wonderkid
According to Sport, Chelsea and Liverpool have both made a contract offer to Barcelona prospect Gavi.
The report claims the 17-year-old midfielder is still on a youth contract at the Camp Nou despite his dazzling displays under Xavi in the first-team.
Gavi's impressive performances since making his Barcelona debut in 202X has seen him become a Spanish international, as he becomes a growing feature in Luis Enrique's starting eleven.
Sport reports that there has been no progress as of yet regarding contract talks between the Catalan side and Gavi, handing the Premier League title-chasers a major boost in their pursuit.
Our view: Gavi looks like he has the foundations to be a top, top player, and he's already halfway there! He'd be a great signing short and long-term for the club.
My only concern is that Billy Gilmour, and probably many other youngsters on loan or at Cobham, could reach the superstardom level that Gavi is tipped to get to. Still, one is at Norwich City, and one is learning from Xavi at Barcelona - two polar opposite learning environments.
Chelsea find Lewandowski breakthrough
According to reports, Bayern Munich has left the door open for Chelsea to sign Robert Lewandowski in the summer.
The 33-year-old veteran striker is very much enjoying the prime of his career with the Bundesliga champions, having scored 34 goals in 27 games already this season.
Bayern is 'willing' to let Lewandowski, who is valued at £45 million by Transfermarkt, leave at the end of the season if he doesn't renew his contract, which expires in June 2023.
Our view: If Lukaku doesn't turn the tide and fix his form, then Chelsea have to go for Lewandowski; he'd be the perfect mentor for Armando Broja, the financial risk is minimum, he's experienced, and more importantly, it'd be his last top-flight challenge - similar to Thiago Silva.
