Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has already hinted at the possibility of an exit for Benjamin Pavard with Chelsea linked to the defender. Meanwhile, Joakim Maehle and Denzel Dumfries options are also said to be available for Thomas Tuchel.
On the US tour, the Blues were able to confirm the acquisitions of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly - two signings which signalled intent from the new American regime. However, multiple setbacks with the likes of Jules Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe means that Tuchel still only has those two new recruits through the door ahead of the final pre-season clash on Friday night against Udinese.
It was expected that new owner Todd Boehly would provide the Chelsea boss with a £200million plus war chest in his first summer transfer window. With over a month before the window closes, there is still time to sign new players, but with Everton fast approaching, the German was under no illusion that this summer of change may mean that his side would not be ready for the new campaign.

"I cannot guarantee. I saw today a team in Arsenal who are mentally committed to an idea of playing, a level of exhaustion, a level of physical commitment that we could not match," Tuchel said in his press conference after the defeat against Arsenal.
"Also, a level of mental commitment that we lacked because we have a lot of players who are thinking about leaving and looking at their options. We have players that have left and I think at the moment that's obvious."
He then added on the transfer front: "There is no update, no update. The analysing of the season does not change because of this game. Unfortunately, it proved my point and the last week proves my point. I would prefer to not be right and I did everything to prove myself wrong, but at the moment I feel I was right when I look at the last season and at the parts of the game where we struggled and how we struggled.
"We got sanctioned and players left us, we know that some players are trying to leave us, and this is where it is. We had an urgent appeal for quality players and a huge amount of quality players. We've got two quality players – that is no doubt – but we are not competitive like this and unfortunately, we could see it today."
Fast forward to now and no third signing is imminent currently but French international Pavard, who has emerged alongside the likes of Maehle and Dumfries as defensive options, has given his own 'green light' to moving to Chelsea this summer if a deal with the Bavarians could be agreed.
The German club are looking to sell players following their big money acquisition of Matthijs de Ligt. With this in mind, coach Nagelsmann, despite stating he wants to keep the France international, was realistic about the situation at hand.
"I would like him to stay. [...] But let's wait and see what happens," he said at a recent press conference via tribalfootball.com.
football.london understands that a move for the 26-year-old is currently not at the top of Chelsea's agenda but could be properly pursue if they are unsuccessful in moves for other targets.
