Barcelona’s financial situation continues to be one of the talking points as the European big beasts do battle for the most-wanted players on the continent.
And while their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski might suggest that all is well at Camp Nou, not everyone is so sure. Meanwhile, Juventus are splashing the cash on out-of-contract players, with former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba potentially playing alongside another ex-Red Devil.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain remain a factor in so many transfers it is hard not to believe agents are using alleged interest from the French champions to drive up demands elsewhere. Here, Mirror Sport brings you the best of the transfer news and rumours from around the continent.
Bayern rebuff Barca
Bayern Munich are holding firm against Barcelona ’s pursuit of top striker Robert Lewandowski over doubts about the Catalan club’s future. According to a report in The Athletic, the Bundesliga giants would want the money up-front for Lewandowski because they think Barcelona may well go under. Despite enjoying eight very successful years at the Allianz Arena, Lewandowski, 33, is keen for a new challenge as he enters the last year of his contract and final few years of his career. But Julian Naglesmann’s Bayern are reluctant to accept a deal that includes instalments because they’re not convinced their Spanish rivals are going to survive the next year or two.

Di Maria heads to Turin
Angel Di Maria has agreed to join Juventus on a one-year deal after his contract ended at Paris Saint-Germain. The 34-year-old forward is expected in Italy this week and is poised to be the club’s second eye-catching free signing of the summer. The Guardian claim The deal with Di Maria follows one settled last month with Paul Pogba, who is due in Turin this Saturday to complete his return to the club after leaving Manchester United. Juve have cash to spend given the battle is hotting up between Bayern Munich and Chelsea for £75million-rated defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Rossoneri eye Sanches
AC Milan are still keen to sign Renato Sanches but are hoping the Portugal midfielder will drop his wage demands and choose Italy over Paris. Several Italian outlets are saying the Serie A champions have not given up hope of signing the Lille midfielder because PSG are yet to close the deal for him despite reports he has been in the French capital. The former Benfica and Bayern Munich player had seemed destined to join the Rossoneri this summer but apparent interest from PSG threatened to scupper the deal. Sources close to the player have insisted there has been no contact between the player and the French champions and that AC Milan remain the only club in the hunt.
