Bayern Munich chief Oliver Kahn has explained his decision to turn down a transfer for Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo, but has not ruled out a potential move for Tottenham forward Harry Kane. The pair have been linked with the Bavarian club after Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona this summer.
The Bundesliga champions aren't the only side linked with the two Premier League stars though, as Chelsea have also been eyeing a move for the duo. New owner Todd Boehly held talks with agent Jorge Mendes, which included discussions over a possible switch for Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge as he eyes an Old Trafford exit.
While a move may seem unlikely, Kane has been reported as a target for the Blues by SportBILD, with just two-years remaining on his contract with rivals Tottenham. Much like Bayern, Chelsea are in need of a change to their centre-forward department in the transfer window.

The Blues spent big last summer attempting to solve that issue, re-signing Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee. The Belgian failed to live up to the heights though, returning to Inter Milan on loan for the upcoming campaign.
While Raheem Sterling has joined the west London outfit, the need for a goal scoring No.9 is still at large for Thomas Tuchel. Pre-season has seen its fair share of struggles in front of goal too, with the coach bemoaning his lack of options and having the "same players" at his disposal.
Ronaldo and Kane could be answers to that problem, but if they were to make a move for either, they could face competition. Bayern president Oliver Kahn discussed a move for both in an interview with SportBILD, via Fabrizio Romano, and said on the Portuguese striker: "We discussed about Cristiano Ronaldo internally - I consider him one of greatest footballers ever.
"Then we came to conclusion that, despite appreciation for Cristiano, he would not fit into our philosophy in the current situation." That could leave the Blues with a free run at signing the 37-year-old this summer, but it could be more complicated when it comes to Kane.
When asked about the Spurs talisman, he added: "I can just say that Harry Kane is an outstanding striker who is now under contract at Tottenham." While he didn't hint at a move or any interest, he did not deny the move as he did with Ronaldo, suggesting there may be something in the works.
Meanwhile, football.london understand that Kane is open to talks over a new deal at Tottenham, with the addition of Antonio Conte and strength displayed in the transfer market helping to prove they match the England captain's ambition. Spurs have not yet approached Kane over a new contract due to the busy nature of their summer so far, but the offer is expected to arrive with the player's renewed happiness in North London.
