Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has denied suggestions the club are in talks with Harry Kane.

The Tottenham forward is into the final year of his contract in north London and has been touted as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona earlier this summer.

While Standard Sport understand Kane would be open to discussing a new deal with Spurs, there will almost certainly be interest in him until an extension is officially signed.

Manchester City came close to signing the England captain in 2021 but the appointment of Antonio Conte and a return to the Champions League looks to have improved Spurs’ chances of keeping him.

Little over a year after his fairly public attempts to leave the club, Tottenham embarked on an ambitious summer recruitment drive, supplementing Conte’s squad for a dual assault on the European and domestic front.

As such, Kane is believed to have been excited by their progress and would be willing to discuss extending his stay in north London.

Speaking to Sport 1, Salihamidzic said: “I haven’t spoken to anyone at Harry Kane’s camp.

“We have faith in our players. Serge [Gnabry], Sadio [Mane], [Eric Maxim] Choupu-Moting and also [Mathys] Tel.

“These are guys who should grow into it. We have eight players for four positions. In the end you have to see what the market has to offer and we didn’t find anyone is better than what was already in our squad.”
