Battling Nottingham Forest given Chelsea and Arsenal points target

Nottingham Forest "will definitely" stay up if they beat Chelsea or Arsenal in their remaining fixtures according to former Reds player Charlie McParland.

Steve Cooper's side are three points clear of the bottom three after Monday's 4-3 win over Southampton. Forest host the Gunners before travelling to Crystal Palace after facing the Blues this weekend.

The Reds' relegation rivals have several difficult fixtures coming up, with Leicester facing Liverpool and Newcastle whilst Leeds also face the Magpies before hosting Tottenham on the final day.

And Forest may like their chances of getting a result on Saturday to pull further clear of the relegation zone. Chelsea have had a nightmare campaign as they sit 11th in the table with former Reds players Charlie McParland and Terry Wilson agreeing that a win will keep them up.

"Never mind what the other teams have got left," McParland told Notts TV. "Get your mind set and say 'we're going to go to Chelsea and when we play Arsenal, we'll get that point or three points,' three will definitely do it. Try not to rely on everyone else."

Wilson said: "I feel like Leeds are the team that are going down with Southampton for sure. Then you're looking at it and saying Leicester are there. Everton play Bournemouth and Wolves, those two are safe so there are potential points there for them.

"For Forest, I personally think, I know their away record hasn't been great this season but Chelsea's record under Lampard has been horrendous and I think there is at least a point there. If they get one point there, that might be good enough. Obviously, they've got some tough games coming in.

"The last game is Palace who are safe but you don't want to go to that last game. So I really think if they go to Stamford Bridge and are positive, I think they could become safe there."
