First Give, a charity inspiring young people to take social action, launches new social conscience podcast, The Spark.
Four inspirational guests give reason to why they dedicate so much time to social causes. Guests include, London based lead singer and songwriter of Bastille and First Give ambassador, Dan Smith, TikTok influencer, Benji Lookbook and Director of the Reach Out programme, Emmanuel Awoyelu alongside Birmingham based social entrepreneur and founder of charity First Class Foundation, Nathan Dennis.
The mini podcast series focuses on the moments that sparked social conscience in its guests and how this has shaped the lives they lead today and the choices they have made along the way.
The podcast aims to ignite social change within its listeners. When asked what sparked his social conscience Dan Smith commented “I think maybe there are loads of sparks, there are loads of those moments. I see a clip on YouTube or whatever and [I’ll] be like ‘oh my god this is not ok, what can I do to help?’ because you want to do some good and you also want to feel like you’re being proactive in a situation. There is so much that happens, that you see, that feels not ok, and you feel completely helpless about it. It’s such a healthy human instinct to want to go out and do something and be proactive.”
TikTok influencer, Benji Lookbook also shares his top tips for what to do when charitable work feels overwhelming “as a global community, we can be a force for good and can fix all of the problems but as one person you cannot.”
