Bashing up bullies in school was my motivation to learn boxing, says Parveen Hooda

MUMBAI: This is a scene straight from the 2016 Aamir Khan movie Dangal. A girl going to school is bullied by boys in Haryana and she bashes them up, only to soon learn that she has physical attributes to become a wrestler.

Except in 23-year-old Parveen Hooda’s case, she happens to be a boxer, who has won the quota place in the 57kg category in women’s boxing.
