About 315 Basecamp bicycle helmets sold on Amazon are being recalled because they failed federal requirements meant to protect riders in a crash and because they contain a button cell battery without legally required warnings. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Sept. 17.
The recall involves two separate dangers in one product. A helmet that does not absorb impact or stay in place may not protect a rider's head during a fall. A button battery without warnings can pose a hidden risk to young children in the same home.
