Barry Manilow has insisted his youthful looks are just down to "blind luck".
The Copacabana star appeared on ITV's This Morning today for a chat with Alison Hammond, who was filling in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as they rushed over on motorbikes back to the studio after hosting live from Buckingham Palace.
As she introduced the chat, she shared how Barry had joined her live from his studio in Palm Springs via video link.
"Good morning to you Alison, good to see you," he said as the pair shared pleasantries and Alison explained about the last time the duo had met, where he had serenaded her with one of his songs.
She then added: "I think the last time we met was in Las Vegas, all those years ago.
"You sung for me with the piano, it was absolutely amazing. It's so good to see you. Firstly, I've got to say, you look incredible, so what is the secret? You are not telling what the secret is!"
Barry then went on to insist his youthful looks were just down to luck.
"Just luck! It's just blind luck. I'm very old, let's not talk about it - it's just very depressing," he said.
As Alison then added: "You look gorgeous, honestly."
Back in 2017, Barry opened up about his sexuality for the first time, confirming his relationship and marriage to manager Garry Kief, who he had tied the knot with a few years earlier after a long romance.
He said: "I'm so private and I always have been."
"I thought I would be disappointing them if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything," he added of the reason why he kept it a secret, "When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful - strangers commenting, 'Great for you!' I’m just so grateful for it. Thank goodness we’re still together and we’re in good shape, too."
Since then, Barry admitted he felt that coming out sooner would have ruined his career.
He said: "It’s absolutely wonderful. I went through many, many years when I couldn’t do that. It would have killed my career. Immediately. As soon as the word got out my career would have been over. It was stupid then but it was true. Everybody knew it, we had to watch out for making a mistake. Not that everybody didn’t know, people are very smart."
