Barry Manilow claims his ever youthful looks are the product of 'blind luck'.
The Mandy and Copacabana singer, who is now 78, was a guest on ITV's This Morning and chatted with Alison Hammond, while Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were hosting live from Buckingham Palace.
Alison spoke to Barry via live videolink from his studio in Palm Springs.
Referring to their first meeting when he serenaded her, Allison told him: "I think the last time we met was in Las Vegas, all those years ago.
"You sung for me with the piano, it was absolutely amazing. It's so good to see you. Firstly, I've got to say, you look incredible, so what is the secret? You are not telling what the secret is!"
Barry then insisted to her: "Just luck! It's just blind luck. I'm very old, let's not talk about it - it's just very depressing."
Alison then told him: "You look gorgeous, honestly."
Barry opened up about his sexuality for the first time in 2017, confirming his marriage to manager Garry Kief.
He said at the time: "I'm so private and I always have been.
"I thought I would be disappointing them if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything. When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful - strangers commenting, 'Great for you!' I’m just so grateful for it. Thank goodness we’re still together and we’re in good shape, too."
He reckons coming out sooner would not have helped his career, saying later: "It’s absolutely wonderful. I went through many, many years when I couldn’t do that. It would have killed my career. Immediately. As soon as the word got out my career would have been over. It was stupid then but it was true. Everybody knew it, we had to watch out for making a mistake. Not that everybody didn’t know, people are very smart."
