Sunrise Peter FordFor 89 years, Barry Humphries entertained us through a galaxy of personas, from Dame Edna to Sandy Stone.
But the brightest star in that galaxy was always Barry. A great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind, he was both gifted and a gift. May he rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/oSAKpxPGae — Anthony Albanese (@AlboMP) April 22, 2023
Even after intense sessions with with a physiotherapist, Humphries situation worsened a week ago. He was believed to be “cracking jokes” during visits from family and friends, including collaborator Andrew Ross.
He died surrounded by his family, including his wife Lizzie Spender — who Humphries was married to for 30 years — as well as his children, including London-based sons Rupert and Oscar, and Australian-based daughters Emily and Tessa, and 10 grandchildren.
Our thoughts are with Humphries’ loved ones. Rest in peace.
