Barry Hearn has given an update on Katie Taylor's Croke Park fight, saying he hopes it happens.
Taylor is back in action later this month as she headlines a Wembley Arena card with her bout against Karen Elizabeth Carabajal.
It will be Taylor's first fight since her memorable win against Amanda Serrano in Madison Square Garden and Barry Hearn spoke about a possible Croke Park fight.
Speaking on Off The Ball, he said: "I can't tell you how much I'd love to see that. Katie Taylor is an athlete where the whole country is and quite rightly should be very proud of.
"She's a very, very special person and deserves that homecoming fight.
"There's going to come a time and I don't want that time to come before she had her Croke Park homecoming with the memories that will create for generation.
"There's no reason to not run the fight. There was a time where boxing wasn't viewed in the same spirit in Ireland but today it isn't, there's no problems with that at all and we have no problems going to Ireland at all.
"It's the right fight and you need a showcase fight."
And Hearn claimed that Serrano did not want the rematch in Croke Park.
He said: "The reason she didn't agree to the rematch is she didn't want it in Croke Park, which I found bizarre because it will be a phenomenal atmosphere for both girls. That may come around again and if it does I am getting my ticket."
And Hearn also added that if he had another daughter he'd hope it was Katie Taylor.
"In terms of the fighters I've seen she is obviously the best woman fighter I've seen by a country mile. I don't consider her a woman fighter I consider her a fighter because that is what she set out to achieve.
"In terms of a person, the only thing I can say is if I had another daughter I wish it was Katie Taylor. "
