Barry Ferguson feels a move to Rangers for his nephew Lewis will become more realistic as his contract runs down.

The Scotland midfielder addressed the links to his boyhood club in a press conference previewing last night's Nations League clash with Switzerland, after dad Derek let slip there were talks over the summer.

Admitting he had a "long think" on his future, Ferguson Jr said he was happy to still be at Bologna, where he has been back to play week-in-week-out this season, and captaining the side.

But he once again admitted it remains am ambition of his to play for Rangers at some point during his career.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, uncle Barry Ferguson said: "That's one of his ambitions at some stage he will play for Rangers.

"Who knows when that will be, I would reckon Bologna will want a chunky transfer fee for him because I think he's still got two years left on his contract.

"Maybe one day, but I would love to see it myself. When that is who knows?

"I would imagine what would have been the stumbling block, would be the transfer fee, but as your contract runs down you know what happens with tranfer fees they go lower.

"You never know, at some stage it might be doable for Rangers if that transfer fee is a bit lower than what I think Bologna would want for him at this moment in time."

When it was suggested Bologna would be looking for close to £20million currently, Ferguson added: "Yeah I would think they would be looking at that because of the length of his contract he's got left.

"Never say never hopefully one day in the future we'll see another Ferguson playing for Rangers."
