Police have arrested a man who clambered on top of a Tube train causing travel chaos during a 12-hour standoff.

Specialist negotiators worked throughout the night to coax the man down after he got up on the roof of Barons Court Station at 7pm on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital and has been arrested on suspicion of obstructing the railway and criminal damage.

Social media footage shows a hooded man clambering on top of the carriage and talking to himself as TfL staff walk along the platform.

He was later seen strolling ontop of the roof of the station after launching himself from the carriage.

British Transport Police tweeted: “Officers have worked throughout the night at #BaronsCourt, and the man came down from the roof earlier this morning.

“He has been arrested on suspicion of obstructing the railway and criminal damage, and will be taken to police custody after being checked over in hospital.”

There was no service on the District Line between Acton Town and Hyde Park Corner on Monday morning.
