Bargain Hunt's James Lewis talks about 'love at first sight' with husband after split from wife

Bargain Hunt star James Lewis enthused over his new husband after the end of his marriage to his wife.

The BBC antiques expert, 53, married Ed Otter, who is 18 years his junior, in an intimate ceremony with 50 guests in September.

His 17-year-old daughter Arabella from his former relationship was at the ceremony.

Otter works at Lewis’ auction house as a toys, trains and juvenalia specialist. His ex-wife Annabelle also used to work there.

Lewis has now shared his happiness at finding love again after his split from Annabelle.

“I met my husband 15 years ago playing pool, of all things, in the local pub in Derbyshire. Was it love at first sight? Pretty much, yeah. I had split up from my wife, my daughter's mum. And I was just ready,” he told The Mirror.

The former Flog It! star admitted he and Otter had considered eloping in the US, but later decided they should include his parents and daughter in their big day.

"We were going to run away, we were going to get married in the mountains in Yellowstone National Park, and then we thought, oh no, we've got to invite parents and my daughter," he explained.

"Arabella says, which one of you is going to walk me up the aisle when I get married? She said, can we have a wide aisle, and can you both walk me up? So we couldn't do it without Arabella."

Lewis said Arabella now calls both him and Otter “Dad”.

”He and Arabella get on so well. I'm very lucky,” he shared.

Their wedding came just days after Lewis’ health scare.

The TV star has had two cardiac arrests in the past - one in 2013 and one in 2019.

His heard rate soared to more than 250 beats per minute on his wedding day, which was “very close” to a cardiac arrest.

A typical resting heart rate for adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. His cardiologist has since warned him to avoid high-pressure situations.
