Barclays reported a 12% rise in third-quarter pretax profit on Thursday, supported by steady investment banking income and stable costs, and announced a new £500 million ($669.85 million) share buyback.
The British lender's pretax profit for the July-September quarter increased to £2.3 billion from £2.1 billion a year earlier, broadly in line with analysts' average forecast of £2.4 billion.
