Barcelona have reportedly asked superagent Jorge Mendes to help them facilitate a transfer for Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo.
The defender is due to return to the Etihad from his loan spell at Bayern Munich this summer with his future remaining unclear. The 28-year-old was booed by some City fans when he came on as a second-half substitute during Tuesday’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to his parent club.
Amid his January switch to the Bavaria club, reports emerged claiming that the player had had a falling out with Pep Guardiola over game time and so a subsequent loan exit was organised, all of which fuelled the jeering in midweek.

After failing to gain a foothold in Julien Nagelsmann’s side, Cancelo has been left out of Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI in two of his four games so far - both of the omissions being in crunch clashes against Borussia Dortmund and City.
A report from Sport claims that Barcelona are keen on bringing in the Portugal international with Guardiola apparently looking to offload him this summer. Agent Mendes has been asked by the La Liga leaders to organise a loan move ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, the same outlet claims the Nou Camp outfit are also eyeing another City squad member. Ilkay Gundogan is expected to leave when his Blues contract expires in the summer.
The report claims that Barcelona sent scouts to watch the Germany star in Tuesday’s win over Bayern. Gundogan is thought to be keen on the idea of linking up with Xavi as the Spanish side look for cost-free acquisitions amid their huge debts.
