Barcelona Extends Perfect Start With Lewandowski's Seventh Goal

Barcelona continued its impressive form in the Spanish league with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe at home on Wednesday. The win marked Barcelona's seventh consecutive victory in the league this season, maintaining their perfect start.

The lone goal of the match came from the prolific Robert Lewandowski, who found the back of the net for the seventh time in as many matches. The Polish striker capitalized on a loose ball in the 19th minute after Getafe goalkeeper David Soria failed to handle a high cross into the area.

Barcelona's victory sees them equal their second-best league start in history, matching the seven wins achieved at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. The Catalan club's best start remains the eight consecutive wins at the start of the 2013-14 season.

Coach Hansi Flick expressed his pride in the team's performance, highlighting their fighting spirit throughout the match. Flick also commended the fans for their support, emphasizing the strong connection between the team and supporters.

Barcelona has been dominant in the league, outscoring opponents 23-5 in their first seven games. The victory over Getafe gives them a four-point lead over defending champions Real Madrid, who secured a 3-2 win against Alaves on Tuesday.

Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña started in place of the injured Marc-André ter Stegen, who is sidelined with a serious knee injury. The team showed solidarity with Ter Stegen by wearing T-shirts with messages of support for their captain.

Despite Getafe's efforts, including a late scare from Borja Mayoral in stoppage time, Barcelona held on for the win. The victory keeps Getafe winless and in second-to-last place in the league standings.

In other matches on Wednesday, Girona and Rayo Vallecano played out a goalless draw in Girona.

Barcelona's next fixture is away at Osasuna on Saturday, followed by a visit to Alaves the following weekend.
