Barcelona and Brazil legend sends 'I told you' message to Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle move

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes' end of season Instagram highlights video has prompted a response from Barcelona and Brazil legend Dani Alves

Guimaraes' video included a classy message to his teammates, support staff and Newcastle fans, giving thanks for the warm welcome he has enjoyed since he arrived on Tyneside which Alves responded to.

The Brazilian legend wrote: "Phenomeno, I told uuuuuu!!!"

While it took a few games for him to break into the Newcastle starting XI, Guimaraes has proved to be a hit since, dazzling supporters with some high quality performances.

With five goals and one assist to his name since he signed from Lyon in January, the 24-year-old was instrumental in helping Newcastle climb the Premier League table, going from relegation favourites to a comfortable mid-table finish.

Among the highlights were a number of key moments Guimaraes was involved in during the second half of the Magpies Premier League campaign.

Those include his March Goal of the Month contender against Southampton, his last minute header against Leicester City and his gloriously deft lob of former Newcastle keeper Tim Krul when Newcastle faced Norwich at Carrow Road.

When translated, the Instagram message reads: "I was always sure of my choice coming to Newcastle. I thank the fans, management, coaching staff and players for the reception I had. I always felt part of the group. We come to the end of this season with the certainty that great things are to come. Thank you and see you in 2022/23."
