Canadian actor Ryan Gosling and Australian actress Margot Robbie posed on the pink carpet at the European premiere of 'Barbie' in central London on July 12, 2023. The Barbie soundtrack has seen a resurgence nearly nine months after its release, climbing the Billboard charts this week, largely due to its success at the 2024 Academy Awards.
The album has risen to No. 38 on this week's Billboard 200, up significantly from its previous position at No. 59. Following the Oscars, the Barbie album saw a boost in sales and streaming activity, with an increase of over 26% in equivalent units shifted.
In addition to the Billboard 200, Barbie has also reappeared on the Top Streaming Albums chart at No. 43. While it hasn't reached its peak position of No. 22 on this chart, the album continues to perform well, even before the Oscars impact.
Although Barbie didn't win the majority of the awards it was nominated for at the 2024 Academy Awards, it made a significant impact. Billie Eilish and Finneas won their second Oscars for 'What Was I Made For?' in the Best Original Song category. Both Eilish and Ryan Gosling performed their respective songs at the event, which were among the highlights of the evening.
'What Was I Made For?' and 'I'm Just Ken' have also made waves on various Billboard charts, with strong sales and streaming numbers. Gosling's hit has reappeared on multiple charts, while Eilish's winning song has maintained its popularity for months.
