Barbie Kardashian under Garda investigation for allegedly threatening to rape female prison officers

Dangerous inmate Barbie Kardashian is facing the prospect of more jail time – after gardai began an investigation into allegations she threatened to rape female prison officers.

The Mirror has confirmed that the transgender prisoner is alleged to have threatened to sexually attack several female prison officers at Limerick Prison this week.

Kardashian, who is legally a woman after she secured a gender recognition certificate, is alleged to have issued the threats after she refused orders to clean up the shower area of the prison’s women’s section after she had used it.

Male prison staff had to intervene to protect their female colleagues and bring Kardashian back to her cell.

Kardashian has now been hit with an internal prison disciplinary charge called a P19 – which means she will lose privileges.

But sources have revealed that prison bosses have called in gardai over the incident – and detectives have now launched a criminal investigation.

Sources say they believe it is likely Kardashian will be charged with making threats to rape – and could be hit with another long jail term if convicted.

Kardashian (21) is already serving a four and a half year jail term for threatening to rape, torture and murder her mother.

She is one of two transgender prisoners in a special landing at Limerick Prison.

Sources say they are held in separate cells and are neither are allowed to mix with female inmates.

Three females are on the same landing – but Kardashian and the other transgender prisoner are kept away from them.

It is understood, however, that Kardashian regularly shouts abuse at the females on her landing when she is locked in her cell.

Sources say the other transgender prisoner is quiet and causes no problems.

The Prison Service last night confirmed it was aware of an incident at Limerick Prison.

Although it did not name Kardashian, we have confirmed she is the prisoner under investigation.

A spokeswoman told us: “The Irish Prison Service is aware of an incident in Limerick prison.

“An Garda Siochana have been informed and therefore the Irish Prison Service cannot comment on ongoing investigations.”

Kardashian, of no fixed abode, but originally from the Midlands, had 15 previous convictions including for threats to kill, sexual assault, assault causing harm, assault, and causing criminal damage to property.

Limerick Circuit Criminal Court heard last month the defendant was born a male named Gabriel Alejandro Gentile, and that she later changed her name by deed poll to Barbie Kardashian.

In 2020, Kardashian was granted a gender recognition certificate by the Department of Social Protection, in recognition of her identifying as female.

The court heard Ms Kardashian is currently on a waiting list to be assessed for “appropriate medical treatment” in relation to her gender.

Kardashian was placed in care form the age of nine, and later told gardai and social care workers that she had been sexually and physical assaulted when she was a child.

From the age of 12 she was placed in the care of the State on foot of a High Court special care order.

While in Coovagh House, a residential care facility in Limerick for children with high risk behaviours, she threatened to kill or cause serious harm to her mother as well as to a staff member involved in her care.

Following her trial last May, a jury found Ms Kardashian guilty of seven threats against her mother.

She was found not guilty of four additional charges of threatening to kill or cause serious harm to Michael Mannix, a member of staff at Coovagh House.

Judge Tom O’Donnell jailed her for four and half years for the threats, backdated to May 9, 2022 when the defendant, was convicted.
