Transitioning was final piece of puzzle for barber

A transgender man said the first 35 years of his life were like a puzzle with a ‘piece missing.’

Chace-Jordan Rowlands, who lives in Birkenhead, spent a huge part of his life living as someone else before beginning his transitioning journey. Growing up, Chace was your typical ‘tomboy’ who didn’t wear dresses and was constantly being told by others he couldn’t, or shouldn’t, do certain things because that’s not how girls act. He was made to “stay clean and sit nicely” when all he wanted to do was “get dirty, play football and climb trees.”

One time, in a bid to be more like his male cousins, Chace left his mum with no other option but to take him to the hairdressers to have his hair styled after hacking away at his hair with scissors he had found. Initially, Chace believed he was acting 'different' because he was a lesbian and so came out to his family and friends as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. However, being a “girl who likes other girls”, is something he said he never felt totally comfortable with.
