Bar group backed by former Dragons' Den investor to open in Birmingham

A bar group has chosen Birmingham as the location for its 15th venue. The Cocktail Club is opening the new venue in a former office block at 31 Temple Street and it will be the largest bar in the company's portfolio.

Formerly known as London Cocktail Club, the firm's new site is due to open in mid-September and will trade seven days a week. The bar, the company's first in the Midlands, will have capacity for 450 customers, set across two floors and three rooms.

The business was initially conceived by John James Goodman and James Hopkins who had previously won a television competition called ‘The Restaurant' in 2009.

They opened their first venue in central London that year and now operate bars across the capital, the south of England and Wales.

Mr Goodman said: "We can't wait to launch our biggest site to date in Birmingham with an explosive bang. We live by our mantra, ‘welcome to the party', and we're so excited to bring this to Birmingham."

The Cocktail Club is owned by Nightcap, the AIM-listed bar group founded by Dragons' Den investor Sarah Willingham.

Nightcap also owns Adventure Bar Group which last year acquired the Digbeth Arena live events site during lockdown and reopened it as Luna Springs and also runs cocktail bar Tonight Josephine in Stephenson Street.
