New Delhi: The decision of the Central Government to ban the import of seven items, including laptops, personal computers, and tablets, is being talked about across the country these days.
Meanwhile, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal told the Dynamite News in reply to a question that this ban is an important step for the security of the countrब.
Talking about the interests of the consumers, the Minister said that there will be no increase in the prices of these items due to the ban. At the same time, the government will ensure that there is no gap between demand and supply.
As per report, 58 percent of the 7 items, including laptops, personal computers, and tablets are imported from China only. Therefore, it is considered a big blow to China.
However, a day after making the licensing mandatory for the import of laptops, tablets and personal computers, the government has decided to give transition time to companies to move to the new system.
Significantly, during the financial year 2022-23, the import of the items was $ 8.8 billion. Out of this, China alone accounted for $5.1 billion.
