
The former boss of Barclays bank was “close” with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, the governor of the Bank of England has told a tribunal.
Andrew Bailey, who was chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority before taking over as governor in 2020, said he had the “clear impression” that Jes Staley “did appear to have a close relationship with Mr Epstein”.
