The King's Coronation later this year gives people in England and Wales an extra day off to look forward to. It means that there is now a total of five bank holidays in the coming months.
Bank holidays are a national public holiday and are usually spread throughout the calendar year. This year, two bank holidays will take place in April and three will fall in May.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, most shops, businesses and schools will close on these dates. There will also be a change in public transport timetables like there is on seasonal events such as Christmas and the New Year.

As Good Friday falls on April 7 this year, and Easter Monday is on April 10, a prolonged weekend is on the cards. There will also be extra days off for May Day, the King's Coronation and the spring bank holiday.
May Day, the first Monday in May, falls on May 1 this year. The much-anticipated King's Coronation takes place on Saturday May 6, with a bank holiday for the historical occasion taking place on the following Monday (May 8).
Tens of thousands of street parties are expected to be staged as King Charles III is crowned monarch and Camilla crowned Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey. People are also urged to come together for the Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday May 7.
Bars and pubs are also set to serve punters for an extra two hours between Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7. Licensing hours will extend from 11pm to 1am as Home Secretary Suella Braverman allows people to 'enjoy an extra pint or two.'
Finally, the spring bank holiday falls on Monday, May 29. This is the last holiday to look forward to in May.
