Bank Holiday thunderstorms as Met Office weather warnings in place across UK

  • Yellow thunderstorm warnings have been issued across much of the UK for Sunday, bringing risks of lightning, hail, and up to 40mm of rain.
  • The Met Office warned that heavy downpours and wind gusts of up to 45mph could cause travel disruptions, localized flooding, and power cuts.
  • Active warnings cover extensive regions including Wales, Northern Ireland, large parts of England, and central and southern Scotland.
  • Sunday temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 23C in Norwich and 22C in London, though conditions will feel cool beneath intense showers.
  • Conditions are expected to improve on Bank Holiday Monday, bringing a fine and largely dry afternoon following weekend rain disruptions.
