There have been four public holidays in Ireland so far with the most recent taking place today, April 10, on Easter Monday.
We still have six more coming up this year in May, June, August, October and two set to take place in December. Generally these days take place on a Monday but there are some exceptions to the rule (such as when St Stephen's Day falls on a Tuesday this year).
While many of these days are called bank holidays - a bank holiday does not necessarily mean it is a public holiday. For example, Good Friday is a bank holiday but it is not considered a public holiday meaning there is no automatic holiday entitlements for employees.
