Bangor FC players 'went without food' as wages not paid despite club claiming furlough

When wannabe pop star Domenico Serafino bought Bangor FC in 2019, he brought with him renewed hope that one of the UK's oldest football clubs would soon be restored to its glory days of top-flight football. Before the singer-songwriter arrived in Wales, Bangor City’s fortunes had already been hit, both on and off the field.

The historic club had once played Atletico Madrid and Napoli in Europe, and was one of the founding members of Welsh football’s top tier, the Cymru Premier. However, in 2018 the club crashed from Welsh Premier League over financial concerns under previous ownership.

Serefino arrived with a promise to return the club to the top flight of Welsh domestic football, bringing with him a raft of players from South America and Europe on professional contracts. He also pledged a link up through the club’s academy to the Italian giants, Inter Milan.
