The fifth edition of Bangkok Design Week returns this weekend, serving as a platform for designers, creators, entrepreneurs, producers, artists, public agencies and individuals to explore coexistence with Covid-19; to find a new way of life for the future. Under the "Co With Creation" theme, the design week has a threefold mission. First, to encourage creators' creativity and experimentation to create a new normal lifestyle. Second, to support creative businesses and communities to generate income. And, third, to revitalise creative districts of Charoen Krung-Talad Noi, Sam Yan, Ari-Pradipat, Thonglor-Ekamai and Phra Nakhon through online and offline activities. Sit/Vid/Me is presented by AP Thailand, a leading property developer, at the Grand Postal Building from 11am-10pm. It's a community space that hopes to safely bring people together despite the ongoing pandemic.
Lighting Designers Thailand presents a light design titled The Wall 2022 at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem on Maha Phruttharam Road from 6-10pm. They aim to present how light and imagination can playfully illuminate an urban space.
The return of New World x Old Town is for those who seek something surreal. Silpakorn University's Faculty of Architecture has joined creative forces with HUI Team Design, Saturate Designs, Silpakorn's Faculty of Music and a network of installation art designers to tell the story of Bang Lamphu through light and sound design in the abandoned New World Mall. Open from 5-9pm.
Mental-verse is an exhibition by multidisciplinary design company Eyedropper Fill at River City Bangkok from 11am-8pm. It aims to raise awareness on mental health by showing the inner world of those who suffer from depression through video installation. They have participated in designing their own storytelling to allow viewers to sympathise and understand them.
What's the Hex by Silpakorn's Faculty of Decorative Arts Ph.D. candidates takes place at Chutie is Baking: Charoen 43 Art & Eatery from 10am-6pm. It's a presentation of design research projects by six doctoral graduates in design arts. Filmmaker Shane Bunnag presents a selection of his photographic works at the latest exhibition of Woof Pack in Sala Daeng 1, which opens from 10am to 6pm. Self-dubbed the first social AR platform in Thailand, Space is holding NFT art exhibitions at multiple venues in Bangkok at the same time. Art is literally in the air as you have to discover them with your smartphone with the help of augmented reality technology. The participating venues are Benjakitti Park, Samyan Mitrtown, Grand Postal Building, Siam Square One, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and Lumphini Park.
