A well-known band frontman has made an incredible gesture that will help a fledgling Liverpool business - and support homeless people across the city.
Tim Burgess is best known as the lead singer of Northwich-based indie band The Charlatans. The band rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like The Only One I Know. Tim also gained national attention for his twitter listening parties during the pandemic.
Now the singer-songwriter has turned his attention to helping those on the streets of Liverpool with an amazing donation. Tim has kindly given £500 to the new Papercup Coffee shop in Queen Square to pay for people's drinks on Friday.

Papercup Coffee was launched earlier this year by Michelle Langan and her Papercup charity, which works to support homeless people and rough sleepers in Liverpool. The coffee shop's proceeds go towards supporting the homeless and the business also offers work opportunities for those who have fallen on hard times.
Tim became aware of Papercup through twitter and decided he wanted to support the venture. He tweeted today: "Coffees are on me at @PCPCoffee tomorrow - swing by and get one if you're in or around Liverpool." He also encouraged anyone who can afford it to 'pay it forward' and cover the cost of a hot drink or snack which can be redeemed by a person experiencing homelessness in Liverpool.
Responding to Tim's generous donation, Michelle Langan said: "'Tim got in touch as he loves the shop and the work we do. Its a tough time at the moment for everyone, so its a brilliant and very kind gesture from him.
She added: "We can't wait until he makes it to Liverpool so we can return the favour and treat him. Coffee on Friday on Tim, come in and enjoy, and maybe pay forward one for one of our homeless friends."
