A TV antiques expert is coming to one of the region's most stunning attractions next month for a special event where he will value some of the audience's items.
An Evening with Paul Martin, who has presented FLOG IT! for more than 20 years and is one of the experts on long-running BBC series Antiques Road Trip and its sister series Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, will take place at Bamburgh Castle on July 23. Guests are encouraged to bring their own items, so long as they fit in a small bag or pocket, and Paul will earmark some to value at the end of the evening.
He'll also talk about his TV career and mingle with guests in the castle's King's Hall. Discovered by BBC Bristol when talking about his passion for oak furniture, the filming crew were said to be so impressed by his natural confidence in front of the camera that he was signed up immediately, going on to present the daytime show.

Paul's TV commitments took him away from the antique shop specialising in 17th and 18th century English and Welsh oak furniture that he owned, with him spending much of his time filming FLOG IT! However, several presenting roles and TV appearances have come from there, with him presenting two series of Britain's Hidden Heritage, The Manor Reborn ; Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution ; A History of Wallpaper and I never knew that about Britain .
The presenter also delved into writing, with his 2018 book Paul Martin: My World of Antiques published in November 2018, where he aims to give insider knowledge and tips on the key to success in trading antiques.
He's excited about visiting Bamburgh Castle and reflecting on his career so far, said: " I have learned so much. Meeting people in the antiques trade or people who make their living by skills learned over decades is always a treat."
Tickets for An Evening with Paul Martin cost £40 each. You can find out more and get tickets through the Bamburgh Castle website.
