One of the North East's most recognisable attractions is set to temporarily close for five days in November.
Bamburgh Castle, which has recently been named as one of the most beautiful castles in Europe by Condé Nast Traveller, will be temporarily closed from Monday November 7 as its Christmas Kingdom event is set up. Themed around the Twelve Days of Christmas, it aims to transport visitors from the ancient fortress, once home to the Kings of Northumbria, into an "enchanted, whimsical world".
Promising "dazzling decorations, twinkling trees and festive flourishes," installations will be based around the famous carol, and there will be a partridge in a pear tree! The closure is to make sure that the event is a surprise for visitors, as theatrical designer Charlotte Lloyd Webber and her team transform the castle's staterooms into a festive wonderland.

Charlotte and her company CLW Event Design were behind last year's Saints & Angels, which was Bamburgh Castle's first major Christmas installation. She is also known for creating the Christmas attractions at Castle Howard in York.
Charlotte said: "We are very excited to be returning to beautiful Bamburgh Castle to create The Twelve Days of Christmas," and continued: " Bamburgh Castle simply oozes history, drama and more than a little magic.
" We are excited to be weaving this into the fabulous festive wonderland that is The Twelve Days of Christmas, with added shine and sparkle from Bamburgh’s own rich history."
Francis Watson-Armstrong, owner of Bamburgh Castle, said: "There’s a wonderful festive feel in the air which means Charlotte and her team have returned to Bamburgh to work their Christmas magic!
"We are so excited to see this year’s experience, The Twelve Days of Christmas. It promises to be absolutely fantastic and mesmerising for all ages and will get everyone into the Christmas spirit."
The Twelve Days of Christmas at Bamburgh Castle attraction will run daily from November 12 until January 8 and entry is included in the price of general admission tickets which cost £15.50 for adults and £7.65 for children and are on sale now. Those aged four and under can enter free of charge.
The Meet Father Christmas experiences are available from November 19 until December 23 and cost £19.95 per child in addition to the general admission price. For more information on Bamburgh Castle, visit its website.
