Bamba Dieng 'courted' for Celtic transfer as Marseille keen to offload Newcastle United target

Celtic have reportedly expressed interest in Marseille striker Bamba Dieng. The 22-year-old forward has been linked with a Premier League move at the likes of Leeds United and Newcastle United this summer.

According to hommedumatch.fr , OM boss Igor Tudor does not see the Senegalese youngster as part of his plans this season and that Celtic have "courted" the Ligue 1 side over a potential transfer. Reports linking Dieng with Newcastle and Leeds, however, have named a price in the region of £8m, which would be a hefty outlay for the Premiership champions considering they've already spent big on recruiting Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Marseille are set to recruit former Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer with the Chilean forward prepared to have his contract at Inter ripped up. That seemingly leaves little room for Dieng in Tudor's squad as he finalises his options for the new season.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has insisted the club remain open to further incomings and they were linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley on Sunday. Barkley has fallen well out of the picture under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea and his future appears to lie elsewhere. T

The 27-year-old England international is also said to have options in the Premier League and Europe, with a loan departure likely before the transfer window closes. Barkley made only six Premier League appearances for Chelsea last term.
