Ballyfermot teenager Alanna Quinn Idris ‘aces’ Leaving Cert exams months on from horrific attack

Ballyfermot teenager Alanna Quinn Idris has ‘aced’ her Leaving Cert exams, months on from the horrific attack that changed her life forever.

And her father Ahmed has spoken proudly about her excellent results. The 18-year-old was left with brutal injuries including a ruptured eyeball, a broken cheek socket and a shattered tooth in Ballyfermot last December.

Two teenagers were charged in connection with the incident and are currently released on bail. Ahmed said he was “the proudest father” today and shared photos of his daughter celebrating her academic success.

He also thanked the public for their support of Alanna and her family over the past several months. He wrote on Twitter: “I’m blown away this morning by the sheer determination of my beautiful daughter.

"She aced her Leaving Cert with great results like 70-80% in History and Home Ec, 80-90 % in English and French and 90-100% in Maths! I am the proudest father."

The teenager previously said she was interested in interior design and hoped to do a PLC in architecture. She returned to her school Caritas College after several months of treatment.

Alanna’s mother posted an online update in August to let people know how her daughter was progressing. She mentioned that the 18-year-old had attended her first appointment for a possible eye reconstruction and was looking forward to attending her debs in September.

A Go Fund Me was set up to support the medical care of both Alanna and her friend who was also attacked. The public campaign raised over €98,000, and the donations were split equally between the two teenagers.
