Balloons sold in Ireland urgently recalled due to cancer risk

An urgent recall has been issued after a safety issue was identified with certain white balloons sold on Amazon which contain a chemical which can lead to cancer.

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the risk presented by this product is chemical. There are approximately 29 affected products in Ireland.

The balloons contain an excessive number of N-nitrosatable compounds which are harmful to the health of consumers and can lead to cancer.

The CCPC said: “If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product and keep out of the reach of children.

“You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.”
