Ruud Gullit has opened the door to a potential Celtic approach as speculation continues over Martin O’Neill’s long-term future.
Pressure has grown on O’Neill after Celtic’s struggles, although he remains in charge. Gullit, a former Ballon d’Or winner, said he could consider returning to management if the right offer arrived.
The 64-year-old was asked about former Netherlands team-mate Frank Rijkaard, but said Rijkaard does not want to return to football management. He said: “Frank Rijkaard is retired. The comments could attract interest among Celtic supporters because of Gullit’s playing career and managerial experience.
He has remained involved in football through media work in years, but said he sees the game as a manager. Gullit said: “I've done it before. I know how to do it.
“But I don't know how I would react to a job offer today.”
