The BAFTA Games Awards 2024 longlist has been announced, with sixty titles up for awards.

Top of the list is the epic roleplaying D&D game Baldur’s Gate 3, which is in the running for 15 nominations, after winning Game of the Year at the 2023 Games Awards, and being named the Standard’s game of the year.

Also in the running for prizes are a few other RPGs, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy and the Legend of Zelda.

Voting for the winners will begin in January, and the nominations themselves will be revealed on March 7th.

Apple is introducing new anti-theft measures for iPhones in its latest software update, iOS 17.3, coming in January.

The update will include 'Stolen Device Protection’, which makes it harder to access and reset an iPhone when the phone is not in a familiar location, such as your home.

You’ll need a Face ID check when accessing saved passwords, and a one-hour delay is activated when attempting to change your Apple ID password, providing an extra layer of protection when a phone is snatched.

Engineers are trying to solve the issue with the 46-year-old probe, which is about 15 billion miles away, in interstellar space.

The spacecraft can still receive and carry out commands transmitted from the mission team, but a problem with the telecommunications unit means no data from Voyager 1 is being sent back to Earth.

Game developer Naughty Dog has announced it’s cancelled its multiplayer Last of Us game.

In a blog post Naughty Dog said they scrapped it when they realised they’d have to put all of their studio resources behind supporting post launch content for years to come, ‘severely impacting’ development on future single-player games.

The blog post said they’ve decided to scrap the online version and instead focus on single-player narrative games.

They revealed they’re working on ‘more than one’ ambitious, brand new single player game, and ‘can’t wait’ to share more.
